Hanna-Barbera’s ‘Wacky Races’ Brought to Life in Ad for Peugeot 208

Peugeot Brazil - Wacky Races

Since 1956, the animation studios of Hanna-Barbera has produced dozens of classic animated cartoon series such as Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo and dozens more. In 1968 the studio produced ‘Wacky Races‘, a cartoon series featuring 11 different race teams competing for the title of “World’s Wackiest Racer.”

From the dragster-styled ‘Turbo Terrific’ driven by Peter Perfect, to the #00 Mean Machine driven by Dick Dastardly, each one of the 11 vehicles was created with it’s own unique style and extra features.

The wacky vehicles featured in the show are brought to life in a new TV commercial playing in Brazil for the Peugeot 206. In the ad the driver of the Peugeot uses the car features to avoid the mayhem caused by the wacky race teams, eventually arriving to offer timely aid to Penelope Pitstop.

The ad conceived by Young & Rubican, was filmed in Spain and directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet for Partizan.

Peugeot Promotes Hybrid4 Features with Interactive Graphic Novel

Peugeot Hybrid4 Graphic Novel

French-automaker Peugeot is promoting its new 3008 Hybrid 4 with an interactive graphic novel titled ‘A Mission in Four Modes’. The graphic novel is presented as a a visually stunning parallax HTML5 website.

A parallax website is designed with multiple layered backgrounds that move at slightly different speeds creating an illusion of depth. Awwwards.com recently posted 30 great examples of parallax scrolling websites.

A Mission in Four Modes features a female spy who’s trying to grab a few pictures of some secret information that she’s obviously not supposed to see. As the door blasts open and guns are drawn, we see the mission switch to ‘sport mode’ for a quick escape. Our heroine dives through the glass window and races away from the guard dogs, and the chase is on.

The story was illustrated by Gerald Parel (who has designed covers for Marvel) with site developed by Sylvain Tran for Paris agency BETC Digital.

Peugeot Panama Pushes the Possibilities of Pinterest (Repeat 5 Times)

Peugeot Panama Pushes the Possibilities of Pinterest

While most companies are trying to figure out exactly what Pinterest is, others are jumping in to the wildly popular social network with wildly creative ideas. Peugeot Panama has used the boards view of their Pinterest account to not only display mosaics of their cars and trucks, but to present a story that promotes the features of each vehicle.

The story is told through the names given to each of the pin boards. For example the Peugeot Boxer is presented as Board 1: “With that much cargo space”, Board 2: “the biggest things you can imagine”, Board 3: “fit in a Peugeot Boxer”. The first and third boards are made up of 9 photos that create a mosaic of the back and front of the van, while the middle board features images of the ‘biggest things you can imagine‘, including such crazy items as the world’s largest carrot, giant catfish and the world’s biggest pair of underwear.

To top things off, Peugeot Panama have created 4 boards that act as puzzles with 8 missing pieces. The idea is that you create a board of your own, then find the missing pieces on the Peugeot Panama web site and Facebook page, and pin them to your board in order to solve the puzzle. I took a look around the sites and can’t find where those images are located, so if you find any of them please give me a hint.

‘Let Your Body Drive’ Naked in Interactive Video for Peugeot 208

Peugeot 208, Let Your Body Drive Interactive VideoFrench car-maker Peugeot is promoting their new 208 model with an interactive video where the viewer decides on the next move for the (nude) main character. Let’s hope viewers aren’t too offended by watching the main character’s pixelated private parts and bare ass. The execution is part of the ‘Let Your Body Drive’ campaign where the car is represented as a natural extension of the driver.

In the opening scene the main character is caught cheating on his girlfriend; as she discovers the other woman hiding in her closet the video pauses and the viewer is asked to choose ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to whether to ‘Let Your Body Drive’.

If the viewer chooses no, they are directed to another video featuring an alternative ending where they’re told that they’ve made the wrong choice. To continue the adventure the viewer can click back to the main storyline to continue.

If the viewer chooses yes, they’ll move on to a series of other adventures until the main character finally ends up on TV commercial set where he scores a fancy suit and eventually reunited with his girlfriend. For some reason his cheating has been inexplicably forgiven, and they drive off for a night out in his Peugeot 208.
