Chicago’s PUBLIC Hotel, first opened in 1926 as the Ambassador East Hotel, was purchased in 2010 by Ian Schrager. Schrager spent $35 million refurbishing the hotel before re-opening it last September.
On August 11, comedian Michael McNamara and a video crew hit the streets of Chicago looking for couples they could find holding hands, kissing, hugging or other public display of affection. (public hotel: get it?)
It was the perfect opportunity to reward the couples with a room at the hotel, or dinners in the Pump Room and cocktails at the Library Bar.
