JELL-O Leverages #FML Tweets For “Fun My Life” Pudding Giveaway

JELL-O #FMLThere can be no denying that life can be tough sometimes. So, when the going gets tough, it’s time to jump onto Twitter and let everyone know just how tough things are. But don’t forget to include the #FML hashtag.

For those social media neophytes, the acronym FML stands for “Fuck my Life”, and at current count there has been nearly 60,000 #FML tweets in just the past nine days.

But, ad agency CP+B is helping JELL-O to reach out and turn those #FML frowns upside down. They’re reaching out on Twitter to “Fun My Life”, giving away coffee, free music, movies, whoopie cushions and of course, a generous helping of packs of Jell-o pudding. Check out the tweets and responses at jelloFML.com.

Last summer CP+B and JELL-O, monitored Twitter for tweets using the happy and sad face emoticons. When the number of sad faces overtook the happy faces they gave away free pudding to help improve the nation’s mood.

JELL-O’s Jiggle-It App Brings Sweet Dance Moves to the iPhone

JELL-O Jiggle-It iPhone appI enjoy (free) fun, useless apps… well, at least for five minutes or so. Just look how excited I got last week ‘Spinning the Hamster’ on Scandinavian Airlines Time Waster app, or pretending to shave my face with the L’Oreal Men Expert app.

When I saw the alert that Crispin Porter + Bogusky had created an app called Jiggle-It featuring a dancing cube of JELL-O I was off to the app store in a flash.

To get started, choose one of the five jiggling JELL-O flavours, then select a track from your iTunes library (or use the microphone to listen to your speakers). Make sure you use your Fruit Ninja skills to activate one of the 30+ special dance moves by swiping your finger across the screen.

Apparently there’e more going on than just random jiggling according to the JELL-O Jiggle-It site. The app uses an audio analyzer to detect the BPM (beats per minute) and energy level of a song. All the moves were apparently designed by a professional choreographer (a food choreographer perhaps?).

Well, five minutes are up and now it’s Time for another fun, yet useless app to take its place on that last panel of my home screen. Was it good for you too?

Download the free JELL-O Jiggle It iPhone app at the app store.

JELL-O Gives Away Free Pudding to Keep America Smiling

JELL-O Pudding Face Mood MeterThe first thing I always think about when I see the JELL-O Pudding Face commercial is Soundgarden’s Black Hole Sun video. I find Dad’s face-wide grin more creepy than endearing, but at least he’s smiling.

JELL-O wants to keep America smiling and they’re giving away free pudding to turn those frowns upside down. The creative minds of Crispin Porter + Bogusky are behind the digital campaign which plays off the Pudding Face TV commercials.

The JELL-O Pudding Face Mood-Meter analyzes the Twitter and pulls in the tweets that include a frowny and happy-face emoticons. The mood meter smiles or frowns depending on which emoticon is featured in the most tweets. When the frowns start to outnumber the smiles, the red light flashes and Jell-o begins giving away free pudding by reaching out through the @Jell-OMoodMeter Twitter account.

The frowny Twitter updates have include everything from broken down cars, to missed TV shows, to surviving a hot Texas day.

Each free pudding tweet includes a unique URL where the recipient validates their identity back to the Twitter account. I’d be interested in knowing how many people took JELL-O up on their free pudding offering, I’m not seeing a lot of recognition in their streams. 🙁

The campaign is supported by an interactive billboard at the corner of West Broadway and Grand in New York City. Photos and a video of the billboard can be seen at the Denver Egotist.
